03/01/2024 Update: The Department received our first update on our long awaited new wagon. Construction started this week with the Cab and Body being fabricated. 03/08/2024 Update: This week, the apparatus cab was moving through the paint process while the body was being assembled in fabrication.
03/15/2024 Update: This week, our new apparatus cab was moving through cab assembly while the chassis was in frame-up and your body was scheduled for paint process.
03/22/2024 Update: This week, our new apparatus drive train was completed and cab was mounted to the frame. The pump was in build up and body was being prepped for the paint booth.
04/05/2024 Update: This week, our new apparatus pump module was mounted on the chassis while the body completed paint process and moved to module line. Three members are making the trip to the factory next week to do a midpoint review of the apparatus.
04/10/2024 Update: This week, 3 members travelled to Appleton, Wisconsin to conduct a “Mid-Point” Inspection on the new Engine 22. Members got to watch the body be married to the Frame and the water tank installation while on site. The engine is quickly progressing down the assembly line and completion is slated within the next month or so.
04/19/2024 Update: This week, progress continued on our new apparatus with installation of additional wiring, plumbing, shelving and other components.
04/26/24 Update: This week, our new apparatus was moving through testing and follow-up. Next week, we expect similar type work to continue as truck begins final product evaluation.
05/03/2024 Update: This week, testing and follow-up items were being addressed as our new apparatus was moving through final product evaluation. Next week, we expect follow-up work to continue as truck is prepped for final inspection.
05/17/2024 Update: Five members made the trip to Pierce Manufacturing this week to conduct the final inspection of Engine 22. A thorough inspection was conducted with only minor issues noted. The Engine is currently having these issues resolved and should be on its way to Atlantic Emergency Solutions to complete dealer prep before being delivered to us.
6/6/2024 Update: We are thrilled to announce the delivery of our new Pierce Pumper, Engine 22 on Tuesday at 6:15 PM by Atlantic Emergency Solutions. The equipment mounting has begun and will be a collaborative effort between our in-house team and First Due Apparatus Solutions, followed by driver training before being placed in service. Engine 22 is poised to serve our community for the next 20 years. We thank you all for your continued support!
6/15/2024 Update: The Mechanicsville Volunteers are excited to announce that the new Engine 22, and our retired Engine 21 are going to be proudly on display side by side at the Maryland State Firemen's Association Convention in Ocean City starting tomorrow until Tuesday Evening. In addition to being on display, we’re excited to announce that Engine 22 is officially in service and ready to respond on emergency incidents. The unit will be handling emergency incidents in Mechanicsville and surrounding communities following the convention. Engine 22 is a 2024 Pierce Enforcer 1250GPM/750GWT Engine Company Engine 21 is a 1989 Pierce Lance 1250GPM/750GWT Engine Company. Engine 22 is replacing Engine 21 in our fleet.
