At 2359 hours, Engine 2 and Engine 1002 were alerted to Gershwin Road for a Residential Fire Alarm. Immediately after dispatch Communications upgraded the assignment to a House Fire reporting the home owner called 911 advising he had smoke in their house. Chief 2, Engine 23, and Tanker 2 were on the street immediately with 9 volunteers. Communications then advised they took a call from a neighbor reporting the back or the house was on fire.
Engine Tanker 24 and Rescue Squad 2 also made the response. Engine 1002 arrived on the scene reporting fire showing from a 2 story split foyer home. Chief 2, Engine 23, Tanker 2, and Tanker 1002 all arrived immediately behind Engine 1002 and deployed 3 attack lines and set up water supply operations.
Crews found a well advanced fire on both floors of the home and running the attic space. Units operated for about 30 minutes bringing the fire under control.
Numerous mutual aide resources assisted with the extensive salvage and overhaul process on this incident.
