At 1312 hours Companies 2, 29, 1002, and the Medic Unit were alerted for the motor vehicle collision, with the report of a single vehicle involved and additional information indicating entrapment and fire.

Squad 2 responded with 5 personnel. While enroute units were advised that an off duty police officer had arrived on location and advised 2 patients were trapped inside the vehicle with no fire.

A helicopter activation was already initiated due to the nature of the accident.

Chief 2B arrived on location just prior to the Squad and advised one patient would be a priority 4. The Squad arrived and went to work freeing the trapped driver of the vehicle. Extrication took approximately 10 minutes with crews from Squad 2, Rescue Engine 22 and Chief 7. 2 patients were flown by Trooper 7 from the scene to an area trauma center.

Units operated on the scene for approximately 45 minutes.
