Crews Respond to 20 Incidents During Severe Storm

June 30, 2024, The Mechanicsville Volunteers handled 20 incidents since 2037 hours. The department was staffed with 24 volunteers during the storm event and Engine 23, Engine-Tanker 24, Rescue Squad 2, Brush 2, Utility 2, Chief 2A, and Chief 2B were all handling incidents.

During the height of the storm both Chief Officers, Rescue Squad 2, and Engine-Tanker 24 ran a house fire in Company 1002s first due that was a small fire in the basement of a 2-story, single-family home.

Other calls for service included a boat in distress, another box alarm, and numerous tree downs and wires/transformer incidents.
Thank you to the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department for transferring Engine 10 to our quarters to handle additional emergency incidents. Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department also transferred Engine 73 but was diverted to a water rescue incident in their first due while enroute.
