On Friday, June 11th, the members of MVFD loaded up in Utility 2, Brush 2, and Rescue Engine 222 for the second time in two weeks for a Parade. This time the units went to Colonial Beach Virginia to attend the Potomac River Festival Parade.
The members arrived at 1530 and began detailing the units for just about an hour before it was time to put the uniforms on and get ready to be judged. At this parade its extremely difficult to win since the Judges go through the pieces before the parade as well as drill the crew on their knowledge of their apparatus and the fire service in general.
The members were all in Class A Uniforms once again. (First Time ever was last week in Odenton). MVFD was also the only company in Class A Uniforms.
The parade began at 1930 with over 150 Emergency Apparatus Units in the Line of Parade. The Parade is considered the noisiest parade on the East Coast. Awards were given out around 10pm. MVFD Recieved the following Awards: Best Appearing Brush Truck, and the Best Appearing Rescue Pumper.
This was the First Time in about ten years that MVFD has won an award in Colonial Beach.
